Dr. Larry Gray McLain of Chicago, age 75, passed away peacefully with his wife Kathryn by his side on Saturday, Jan. 3. An avid runner, cyclist, triathlete, and ever-optimistic Cubs fan, Larry was born on Mar. 20, 1939 in Belvidere, and was the son of Charles & Margaret (Gray) McLain.  He graduated from Belvidere High School and attended Lake Forest College and University of Illinois Medical School.  As a pediatrician, teacher and hospital administrator, Larry dedicated his career to healing children. For nearly fifty years, Larry was the beloved husband to Kathryn Keaton McLain, and is survived by his three children, Kristeen, Erin and Matthew, and his six grandchildren, Hazel, Myles, Elsie, Franklin, Bianca and Valentina. A burial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at 11a.m. at the Belvidere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Larry’s name to Lurie Children’s Hospital.
