ROCKFORD – Frederick Elon Raffety, 78, of Rockford, died Saturday, April 18, 2015 in OSF St. Anthony Hospital. Born Nov. 28, 1936 in Wayzata, MN; the son of Ernest G. and Emma J. (Short) Raffety.

He married Judith Hasbrouck on Aug. 26, 1961, in Mapleton, Iowa. Fred received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD, and a Juris Doctor degree from William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, MN.

Fred was Owner and President of Focus Financial Advisors, Rockford, Ill. He was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church, a member of Rockford East Rotary and a Paul Harris Fellow, on the Rockford Symphony Orchestra Board, and the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center Board.

Frederick was a past board member of the Belvidere YMCA and Highland Hospital Board. Fred’s hobbies included traveling, trips to Chicago with his grandchildren, reading and watching sports.

Survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith; children, David (Marla) Raffety and Katherine (Kenneth) Harper; four grandchildren, EM2 Andrew Raffety, USN, Norfolk, VA, Leah Raffety, DeKalb, Ill., and Emma and Joshua Harper, Rockford; brothers, Richard (Rita) and Michael (Liliane); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents and an infant brother.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, in Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Road. Rockford with Pastor Scott Himel officiating. Burial in Argyle Cemetery. Visitation was on Thursday, April 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1001 Second Ave.
