A basketball player’s dream is to be one of the best. To feel that orange basketball slide from their fingers as it soars to the net is a feeling like no other. The satisfying swish that follows can give them all the confidence in the world.
Now, for a child that dreams of playing basketball every day, their dreams of becoming a better basketball player can come true.
The Belvidere Daily Republican is happy to announce a basketball camp scholarship opportunity for children ages seven to 17. The scholarship is worth $170 and is funded and provided by the Rockford All Star Basketball Camp.
The camp will be held at Belvidere North High School from Monday July 6 through Friday July 10. The camp will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. every day of the week.
At the camp, coaches will work with children to develop their offensive and defensive game. They will emphasize shooting, ball handling, and rebounding.
Campers will experience both drill and game situations with outstanding coaches who emphasize good sportsmanship and a positive attitude.
This scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for a boy or girl who loves playing basketball and would like to advance their game and have a lot of fun doing it.
Boys and girls ages seven to 17, who love basketball but cannot afford the regular $170 fee for the basketball camp, are eligible for this scholarship.

The Letter to the Editor should include your contact information, a summary of your child’s (or a child you know) love for basketball, and a description of why your child (or a child you know) deserves this scholarship.
The deadline date to have the Basketball Camp Scholarship Letter to the Editor in by is June 15.
A winner will be chosen and contacted by the end of June after careful consideration.
