The Belvidere Boys football sophomore team will face Harlem High School at home at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 7:15 p.m. This is Belvidere’s homecoming game. The Girl’s Poms’ squad will perform at the game.  The junior varsity cheerleaders will cheer for the sophomore game and the varsity cheerleaders will cheer at the varsity game.

The Belvidere Boys and Girls Cross Country teams will compete at the Freeport invite located at Highland Community College at 9:30 a.m.

The Belvidere High School Girls Swimming and Diving varsity teams will compete in the Jefferson Invite at the Jefferson High School pool at 10:15 a.m.

The Belvidere High School F/S, JV, and V boys soccer teams will face Crystal Lake Central at 9 a.m. at BHS Practice Field-West Soccer (freshman) and at Crystal Lake Central High School (JV and V).

The Flora Grange Flapjack fundraiser will go from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Applebee’s in Belvidere. Tickets are $5 at the door or from any Grange member prior to the fundraiser.

The University of Illinois Extension will host the Boone County Farm Stroll on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for free. The Belvidere Fire Department will host an open house for their community from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The open house will take place at the State St. Fire Station located at 123 S. State St. in Belvidere.

The Monroe Township Firefighters’ Association will hold their All-You-Can-Eat Buffet Breakfast. It will be at the fire station located at 104 West St., Monroe Center Illinois. Serving will last until 11 a.m. Prices are $8 for adults, $4 for children ages six to 12, and children five and under eat free.

The American Cancer Society Bark for Life is a fundraising event honoring the life-long contributions of our Canine Caregivers.  They will host an event on Sunday, Oct. 4 at Spencer Park in Belvidere. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and the program will go from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Boone County Animal Services, A Doggie Photo Booth, Doggie Costume Contest, and Doggie games and activities will all be events at the Bark for Life event. The SwedishAmerican Foundation and Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory are pleased to co-sponsor “A Walk to Remember,” a memorial walk to remember children lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, infant and childhood death.
