mugBELVIDERE – On Wednesday, Nov. 25, Boone County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a subject after he attacked a Boone County Correction Officer.

Larry C. Hall, 39, of Rockford, was charged with 16 counts of Aggravated Battery on a Correctional Institution Employee (Class Two Felony) and one count of Obstructing a Correctional Institution Employee (Class four Felony). Hall remains in the custody of the Boone County Jail with no bond.

On Tuesday, Nov. 24, at approximately 7 p.m., Hall, who was an inmate at the time of the incident, attacked a Correction Officer with an unidentified object. Hall struck the officer several times before he was subdued. The cause of the attack is still being investigated by Boone County Sheriff’s Detectives.

The Correction Officer, whose name is not being released, was transported to SwedishAmerican Hospital in Belvidere. The officer’s injuries included bruised ribs, a laceration across the officer’s face, and other minor injuries. The officer was treated and released.

A class two felony is punishable by three to seven years in the department of corrections. A class four felony is punishable by one to three years in the department of corrections.
