BYRON – You may have heard of the TV show on the History channel called the Mysteries of Oak Island. Oak Island sits in the Atlantic Ocean near Nova Scotia. Folklore says the island has buried treasure there. The island has many ties to the Masons, an ancient organization that goes back thousands of years in time. The Byron Masons are putting together a special presentation of how the Masons are connected to the history of the island, plus they are throwing in a spaghetti and meatball dinner to boot! The public is invited to come and see the presentation at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, at the Masonic Hall located at 4771 Ashelford Dr. in Byron. The dinner will consist of spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, salad and hot cookies for dessert. Donations will be taken for dinner.

The video show is free and popcorn and bottled water will be provided.

Byron Masons Mike Thomas, Corbin Anderson and Josiah Henson have studied the history of the Masons and how they are connected to Oak Island. It seems quite likely the Masons arrived in America long before Christopher Columbus.

“Christopher Columbus grew up around Masons. He heard the stories of the land “over there” before he set out on his voyage,” said Byron Mason Jr. Warden Mike Thomas in one of their recent meetings to prepare for the presentation.

The treasure, said to be buried on Oak Island, was supposedly put there by the Masons in an elaborate security system that to this day has never been breached. There are many indicators that this was the work of the Masons, and Mike, Corbin and Josiah have put together a presentation to support that from facts they have found.

I sat in on part of that recent meeting and found out some fascinating information about Oak Island and the Mason’s connection to it. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag though. You’ll have to come and hear about it yourself.
