OGLE COUNTY – On Saturday, May 28, through Sunday, June 19, Karen Virnoche-Brown, her husband James of “Team Buffaloes” and their volunteers will help save more lives from cancer at the 14th Annual “Breast Yard Sale” to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ogle County. The yard sale will be open daily starting at 8:00am rain or shine in the barn at 1194 W Mud Creek Road in Oregon.

In the first 13 years Team Buffaloes has raised over $115,000 at the yard sale. In preparation for the sale, their current inventory of lingerie needs some “support”. The Breast Yard sale has something for everyone including NEW lingerie from Maidenform and Essential Bodywear for every size and figure. There are also gently used bras from across the country as well as estate liquidation items. Treasures galore abound in the barn including collectibles, jewelry, crystal, plates, furniture, room accessories, clocks, household items, kitchen dishes and utensils, complete china settings, small appliances, some clothes and shoes, designer purses, vintage dolls, golf balls, yard tools, toys and games, thousands of books, horse drawn sleigh, hand knitted items, house plants, fire wood, soap from The Soap Shoppe and much, much more. If you have rummage or lingerie you would like to contribute to the sale contact Karen Virnoche-Brown at 815.973.2050.

The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. Relay For Life events are community gatherings where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Teams raise funds in the months leading up to the event.

Dollars raised enable the Society to help people facing the disease today, educate people about how to reduce their risk for cancer or detect it early when it’s the easiest to treat, and fund groundbreaking cancer research.

It is thanks to the dedication of Relay teams like The Buffaloes that the Society can continue its mission and help save lives.

“One can never give up HOPE or the battle is lost. The support I received while going through my four cancer occurrences was humbling and life-changing. We will never be able to do enough to help others,” said Karen.

Community members can get involved in the event by forming a team or making a donation to the Relay For Life of Ogle County. Visit relayforlife.org or www.relayforlife.org/ogleil to learn more about the event, or contact Tammy English at 815.229.1287 (option 33) or [email protected]
