Jerry’s Berry Farm in Stephenson County will be one of the many stops on the University of Illinois Extension’s Openfields Farm Tour. Located at 2507 N. Rock City Road in Ridott, Jerry’s Berry Farm has been around since 1983 and specializes in strawberries, tomatoes, and other vegetables.

The Openfields Farm Tour is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, and will feature farms and farm businesses throughout Winnebago and Stephenson Counties. This event is designed for area residents and customers to be able to tour local fruit, vegetable, livestock, grains, and egg farms in the region. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to observe life on a farm, ask the farm-related questions you’ve always wondered about and spend time with your local farmers. Tourists may visit as few or as many farms as they wish; there is no cost to attend.

“This is a great way for residents to better connect with their local foods,” states Grant McCarty, Local Foods and Small Farms Educator. “These open houses at farms allow you to see where the local food you are picking up from your farmer is being grown and raised. Many customers ask to come visit the farms and this is a great way to actually do just that.”
