The following is a compilation of press releases from the Stateline Fury 10U fast pitch girl’s softball team from successes the team has encounter over the 2016 season.

The first of these successes took place when the Fury won first place at the Rob Neiber Memorial United States Specialty Sports Association Qualifier Tournament held June 10 – 12 in Roscoe.

The team beat the Roselle Rampage 9-8 in the championship game of this tournament. The two teams had a combined total of 27 hits, including four extra base hits, and it was back-and-forth heading into the seventh inning, with five lead changes.

The Fury grabbed the lead after a strong seventh inning and went up for good on a two-run single.

At that time the Fury players had three first-place finishes and five third-place finishes and had placed in eight of the 11 tournaments they were entered in for the year. Their record after this tournament stood at 32-18 overall.

The Stateline Fury 10U softball team then went on the next weekend and won the USSSA Northern Illinois State Championship tournament, held June 17-19 at Sportscore One in Rockford.

The team again went 6-0, outscoring their opponents 60-5, to take their first ever State championship. That made the Fury back-to-back tournament champs and they had won four tournament championships on the season to that point. The young ladies increased their record to 44-18 and rose to be ranked second in USSSA standings for the State of Illinois and 62nd nationally.

The girls weren’t through yet as the following weekend after that they went on to win the North American Fastpitch Association (NAFA) 2016 State Tournament held in Sycamore, over the weekend of June 24 – 26. The NAFA tournament hosted teams from Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

The girls/families are from Beloit, Rockton, Roscoe, McHenry, Rockford, Poplar Grove, Winnebago and the Stillman area. Members of the Stateline Fury team include Sierra Armstrong, Joscelyn Bennet, Gabby Christopher, Danielle Goodman, Sydney Goodman, Natalie Kinney, Mylee McCauley, Trinity Mesch, Cloe Scarpetta, Briella Sendele, and Amanda Williams, with Mike Marszalec coaching the team.
