By Jean Seegers
About 40 working ladies, many sporting elaborate, colorful and unique hats, gathered for the annual Stateline Chamber Women @ Work Derby Day luncheon, Friday afternoon, May 3. The event was held at North Pointe Wellness Center, 5605 E. Rockton Road, Roscoe. Chamber member Angi Kolthoff, chairman of the Women @ Work Committee, coordinated the program.
The Women @ Work luncheon was a nod to the up-coming Kentucky Derby and also an opportunity for women in the Stateline community to network and take part in a panel discussion dealing with the career obstacles they have overcome.
Kelly Meyer, Stateline Chamber Office Manager, introduced the members of the panel: Anabel Toye -Anabel’s Cleaning Service, Roscoe; Aimee Thurner – Greater Beloit Chamber Director, Beloit, WI, and Erica Shannon – Erica’s Board Creations, Rockton.
Each panel member related obstacles in their past that impacted their work-life and influenced their careers. The audience was invited to participate in the question and answer period that followed.
The Stateline Chamber Golf Play Day is set for June 14, at Atwood Golf Course. Call the Chamber at 815-623-9065 for information.
