“Since when does ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ have a little Dutch boy in it?” wonders Wanelle.

“Farce of Habit” by the Main Street Players of Boone County premiered at the Boone County Community Building on Friday, Feb 11. A sequel to “Farce of Nature,” comic fireworks explode as “Farce of Habit,” takes us back to the Reel ’Em Inn, the finest little fishing lodge in the Ozarks. The proprietor, D. Gene Wilburn, looks forward to a peaceful weekend on the lake. But we all know that there are only two chances of that happening: slim and none.

Everything goes topsy-turvy for D. Gene the moment he attempts to sneak out the door to go fishing. His wife Wanelle refuses to let him leave, the nuns in the barn scare him to death, a radio talk host claims D. Gene’s marriage is falling apart, and it seems that his son’s marriage was never legalized.

Top it off with an axe murderer in the area, guests stealing his sister’s (Officer Maxie) handgun, and a “fan” searching all over for the radio talk host and relationship guru, and D. Gene isn’t going to get a moment of peace.

Main Street Players cast members do a wonderful job reprising their characters from “Farce of Nature” and everyone in the audience laughed, chuckled and chortled throughout the entire performance.

“Farce of Habit” will be performed for a second weekend at the Community Building Complex, 111 W. First St. on Feb. 18-20: Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
