Quick actions of the Belvidere Fire Department save a residence

	The gas meter on the Pearl Street residence was on fire when the BFD arrived.

In a response time of four minutes, two fire engines, one fire chief, and seven firefighters were on site and working to control the flames.


Shop with a Kid in its 27th year

All 11 grade schools in Boone County submitted the names of several kids to join the law enforcement officers and firefighters.

Mike was a well-known football coach at Belvidere High School, home of the Belvidere Bucs, for 36 years.


Santa comes to the Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum

Hang It Up Art Sale has something for everyone

	The Hang It Up fundraiser for the Cherry Valley Library drew hundreds of donations of paintings, photos, quilts, and anything to be placed on a wall.

“We are raising money for an expansion of the building. It will contain a new Youth Services Program room. We also want to install a drive-up book return. That is our goal.


Poplar Grove’s Christmas tree lights up the season

	The 2018 Miss Boone County Fair and Little Miss tell Santa what they want for Christmas at the Poplar Grove Tree Lighting ceremony.

The annual tree lighting ceremony is the official kick-off for the holiday season in Poplar Grove.


New firefighter/paramedic joins Belvidere Fire Dept.

	Firefighter/paramedic Joe Erber takes his oath to serve the Belvidere community at City Hall.

“I really love this area. I have been working as a full-time paramedic with Lifeline Ambulance. I have also been a volunteer firefighter in Capron with Chief Greg Holmes.”


From the bee to the bottle: Beekeeping in Boone County

	Vince Melillo of Belvidere began beekeeping this year and has already seen great success.

Melillo has been documenting his fledgling business on YouTube. He split his hives in July and now has four producing hives still within his first year of beekeeping.
