On Sept. 10, the Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau hosted their 2nd Membership Appreciation Picnic at the Paulson Agriculture Museum of Argyle. COUNTRY Financial and Patten CAT sponsored this event.

According to the website, this museum was established in 2008 as a full-fledged accredited museum. Prior to 2008 the museum’s benefactors, Warren and Helen Paulson, traveled worldwide to find, collect, and restore the artifacts that reside in the museum. Filled with wagons, spreaders, cultivators, planters and the most extensive collection of Emerson Brantingham equipment, (manufactured in Rockford, IL), Paulson’s Agriculture Museum is the best and largest collection that is truly unique. Warren Paulson’s collection caught the attention of Mike and Frank from “American Pickers”, a TV show that airs on the History Channel, and was featured in an episode.

Members of the Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau (WBFB) had the opportunity to sample the museum and learn about the history it contains for no cost at all. They were also served a complimentary lunch catered by The Machine Shed of Rockford and given the chance to play yard games hosted by North Boone FFA chapter, see animals in a petting zoo provided by the New England Banner 4-H club, and jump around in the bounce-house provided by Meridian Implement. As the members checked in, they were handed a survey to complete. This survey allowed them the opportunity to compete in our raffle drawing of seven different door prizes from Edwards Apple Orchard, Manley Motors, Hammertime Sports and Conserv FS.

Around 300 members of the Farm Bureau took advantage of this special day. Those of us at the Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau are so grateful for each and every one of our members.

“We were happy to offer the membership appreciation picnic to both our farming as well as associate members,” said Diane Cleland, Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau Agriculture Literacy Coordinator. “Their support of Farm Bureau gives us the opportunity to offer programs to Farm Bureau members as well as the public. We are grateful for the support and we are happy to offer this event as a way to say ‘Thank You’. It was great to see members of all ages enjoying lunch and the antique farm equipment.”

Thank you again to all of our sponsors, local businesses, volunteers, and participants! This was another successful event and it would not have been the same without all of you.
