Senior, Erik Durand, has had a memorable season finishing 4th at the NUIC Conference Tournament held on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Wolf Hollow-Lena. From there he advanced to the Lanark Regional located at Lake Carroll’s Golf Course and placed 5th out of 82 players to continue his drive to the IHSA 1A Boys Sectional Contest at Randall Oaks Golf Club on Monday, Oct. 10, where 94 golfers were vying for 10 state qualifying entries. At sectionals, Erik came out swinging and ended strong, 80 on the scorecard (9 over par, with 3 holes under par) to be in the running with five other golfers (a 6-way tie!) for the 10th state qualifier spot. The pressure was on as the first playoff hole eliminated half of the competition and Erik was sitting atop the leader board with two competitors. All eyes were on him as he narrowly missed the state qualifier with a bogey (a score of one over par) and placed 11th overall!

Tammy Durand, Erik’s mother and number one fan, said she was so proud of him. She commented, “It was a great round to end his senior year in golf. Cameron Shere, his coach, I can’t say enough good things about Cameron, his passion for the game helped Erik tremendously!”

Pecatonica #321 would like to congratulate Erik on a successful high school career on and off the golf course.
