Barbara J. Parisot, 77, of Kirkland, died Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Medina Manor Retirement Center in Durand.

She was born July 11, 1939 in New Albany, Ind., the daughter of Robert and Thelma (Banet) Montgomery.   She married Donald W. Parisot on Jan. 21, 1956. He preceded her in death in 2007.

Barbara raised five children and loved spending time with her entire family.  She worked for the Kirkland School District as a school bus driver and then went to work at NIU, where she supervised the kitchen staff.

She was a member of St. Catherine of a Genoa Church and the Belvidere Moose.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, road trips, and camping.

Survivors include five children, Robert (Peggy) Parisot, Gerald (Patsy) Parisot, Sheryl (Tim) Chapman, Teresa (Eliel) Najera and Michael (Angella) Parisot ; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one sister, Joan (DeWaine) Judkins.

Her family greeted friends on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 9:30 a.m. to11 a.m. at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, located at 132 W. Main, Genoa, Ill.  A memorial service began at 11 a.m., with Pastor Kenneth Schmoyer officiating.  Burial will be at St. Catherine Cemetery.
