The Winnebago Police Department conducted enforcement from November 14-27, reminding motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired, both day and night, during the Click It or Ticket mobilization. The Winnebago Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers.

During the mobilization, Winnebago Police Department issued:

  • 9 seat belt citations
  • 2 electronic communication device citations
  • 1 felony arrest
  • 1 suspended driver’s license
  • 3 uninsured motorists
  • 7 citations for other types of offenses
  • 12 written warnings for various Illinois vehicle code offenses

Although the annual Thanksgiving Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in Winnebago, that is no excuse to stop using your seat belt. Please remember to buckle up and drive safely, says Winnebago Police Chief Todd Stockburger.

This law enforcement mobilization was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns. For more information, visit www.idot.illinois.gov.
