Edward (Ted) Jess, Sherman, 78, of Belvidere, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 15, in the loving presence of his family.

The son of Thelma (Giffey) and Henry “Hank” Sherman, he was born on Nov. 5, 1938, in Sheyboygan, Wis.

He married the love of his life and best friend, Joan Kerkowski on Feb. 7, 1958.

Edward retired in 1998 from being a longtime dedicated driver for Cassens Transport in Belvidere and Secretary of Treasurer for Teamsters Local 325.

Being a proud brother of Teamsters 325, he sat on many committees and boards for the Local. He also served as President of Capron Rescue Squad, served as board member for the Belvidere Community Building, member of Coon Creek Casters, and Belstone, and many other organizations.

His love of adventure and the outdoors led him down many paths to include, boating, fishing, antique car and tractor restorations and endless other projects he tinkered in.

Here to cherish Ted’s memory are his loving daughter, Traci (Jason) Bender; son, Troy (Joyce) Sherman; granddaughter, Jeannine; and great- grandson, Arthur; family, Nancy Ostrander of Plainfield, Wis.; Nola (Jerry) Sell of Neenah, Wis.; Myra (Cal) Zwetz of Hancock, Wis.; Lyle Sherman of Poplar Grove, Ill.; Jack (Bernie) Sherman of Plainfield, Wis.; Harvey Sherman of Bancroft, Wis.; Dale (Joanie) Sherman of Bancroft, Wis.; Lorena Akins of Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews whom all loved him dearly.

Ted is preceded in death by the love of his life, Joan, who he loved dearly and cared for until the end; his mother and father; brothers, Fred Sherman and Pete Prentice; and sister in-laws, Linda and Teri Sherman.

A memorial service celebrating Ted’s life was held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. in Belvidere, with Rev. Dean Parker officiating. Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
