Arnold James Roerig, 85, Rockton, Ill. died at 7:45 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9, 2017 after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 22, 1931, in Menomo-nie, Wis., the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Elsa (Bleifernicht) Roerig
He graduated from Menomonie High School. He married Gloria Mae Johnson October 12, 1951; they were married for 64 years. He lived in Beloit, Wis. for over 40 years; he retired and moved to Arizona for 14 years, in 2006 moved back to Roscoe/Rockton area.
He was a Designer and Engineer for Beloit Corp for over 40 years. He retired as Manager of Engineering Development, where he coordinated advance design work. He won the Beloit Corp Employee 1989 Chairman’s Award Harnishchseger Industries, for outstanding performance in the area of innovation, he received 40 Patents.
He was a 9-year member Sergeant First Class National Guard, Company A Menomonie, and Company L Beloit. He was a member of Toast Masters Club, Beloit Jaycee’s, Christian Churches in Greater Beloit area and Arizona, holding positions of Chairman, Elder, Finance Board Director, Deacon, Head of Sunday School additions, maintenance work, Radio Missions, Chairman of the Elder Board, Head of Stewardship and helping church families winterize their homes.
In addition he was a beautiful singer in the church choir. He spent 3 summers in Colorado volunteering for Focus on the Family and another summer help-ing at a Dude Ranch. He delivered Bibles to Orphanages and Hospitals in Russia. He traveled extensively in Europe, Russia, Japan, and Israel. He continued to work from home for Focus on the Family.
Survivors include daughter, Jean-nie ( Dan) Scott, Roscoe, Illinois; son, Jon Roerig, Adams, Wisconsin; grandchildren, James Roerig; Chris-topher Scott; Jacob Roerig; Nicholas Scott; Caitin Roerig; Trevor Roerig, and several great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and his wife, brothers William and Howard; sister Alyce Ramquist.
Private services will be held at a later date. Cremation rites to be accorded. McCorkle Funeral Home-Rockton Chapel, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Ill. assisted the family.
