Hononegah vs. Huntley: Regional

The Lady Indians’ basketball team at Hononegah High School had its way with the East Lady E-Rabs in a head-to-head showdown just a few weeks ago. They couldn’t match that feat a second time though, as they fell in overtime on Friday night, Feb. 17, in the Harlem Class 4A Regional Final, 50-43.
The favorable decision gave East the right to move on to Hampshire and the chance for a showdown with a possibly even bigger target later this week.
In the NIC-10 showdown in late January the Lady Indians were in complete control. They jumped out to a 24-5 lead and matched, through the half, everything East could do. In the second half East struggled to find its shot.
Hononegah’s offense was on track and able to score inside. They pulled away to a 30-point confer-ence win, 63-35. The January win also helped Hononegah lock-up the run-ner-up spot in the NIC-10 chase.
