If there is a right time of year to be playing really good basketball late February and early March really is it. The Class 3A and 4A Boys’ Basket-ball Tournament tips-off on Monday and Hononegah will get its chance to play post-season ball coming from a very favorable two-seed position. Plus, they get to play at home.
Wrapping up NIC-10 play to close the 2016-2017 regular season the Indians dominated Guilford as they put over 100 points on the board and held the Vikings to less than half that total. Hononegah won 101-49. It was a complete team effort as stats support.
Hononegah held a 23-12 edge after one period of action and played even stronger in the second. All the shots seemed to be falling as they blew-up their eleven-point margin after one, to over 30 at the break. The Indians scored 27 points in the second quar-ter to capture the 50-18 lead at the turn.
