There are many responsibilities Trustees with Hononegah School District 207 have to work through as they prepare to close one season and ready themselves for the next.
The correct amount of development has to be sup-ported by the means to finance it. If anything extra is going to be done, the money has to be there to assure it can be done.
Handling levies and budgets along with determining the correct number of public hearings to hold are issues, which have to be addressed. Money has to be allocated and budgets have to be finalized. Trustees have to make decisions on where that money comes from.
During the Feb. 15 Regular Board Meeting and, so far, early into the final months of the 2016-2017 school year, Board Members have talked at length about making sure everything is in place. A District Financial Review was slated for presentation during the Wednesday meeting.
The State of Illinois has caused issues for many school districts such as District 207 when it comes to financial planning. They hadn’t been able to pay their full share of what was owed in recent fiscal years.
They were delayed, as budget issues in Springfield and the subsequent last-second scrambling caused certain promised dollars to be slow in their release. Some districts still wait, quarters behind.
