Harlem Roscoe firefighters responded to a structure fire at the KFC restaurant on West Lane Road at 6:04 a.m. on March 5.

Harlem Roscoe firefighters received a 911 call at 6:04 a.m. on March 5, for a report of smoke coming from the roof of a restaurant on West Lane in Machesney Park.
“Upon arrival of first units there was smoke coming from the north wall and roof,” said Fire Chief Don Shoevlin. “An interior attack was initiated to locate the fire. Additional assistance was requested from MABAS to the second alarm.
“A second unit was sent to the roof for ventilation and check the roof top units. They encountered that the fire was beginning to compromise the roof structure.
“All interior teams were instructed to evacuate the building and a defensive strategy was taken. There was no one in the building at the time of the incident and no injuries to the firefighters.”
