At the April 3 South Beloit City Council meeting, commissioners were presented with a plaque by Rockford Park District Executive Director Tim Dimke.
Dimke praised the city for its involvement with hotel/motel taxes early on in the “Reclaiming First Project,” in which the District receives funding. He pointed out that numerous functions that come into the area means lodging is needed and South Beloit is one of the municipalities that benefits from out-of-town guests staying in local lodgings. Because of these venues, there is an economic impact to business in the area.
The plaque, provided by the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association, highlighted South Beloit in the “Outstanding Facility and Parks Award” through the Rockford Park District and MercyHealth Sportscore II outdoor expansion. Dimke said that 250 teams participated in activities the previous week and another 587 teams were
