Loves Park Mayor-elect discusses plans
By Margaret Downing
First Ward Alderman Greg Jury will be the new mayor of Loves Park as of May 1, and will be sworn in at a special ceremony held in city hall on Sunday, April 30.
Jury says, “I am very proud of the campaign that we ran and how all of our team members stayed on a very positive course throughout the entire process. Based on the results, it looks like the residents agreed with our slogan, ‘Continue Our Success.’
We will keep moving our city forward and will also have the ability to make any adjustments that are needed to keep Loves Park a model community in this region.
“As outlined during the campaign, I look forward to working closely with the city council and city staff to pursue economic growth. In doing so, we can continue to grow the city’s sales tax base and maintain the fiscal health of our community. In addition, we must implement a five-year road and infrastructure repair plan so residents know when and what streets will be repaired and resurfaced.
“I also want to begin the planning phase of providing for a new police and fire sub-station to serve the city’s east side. N. Second St. must remain a priority as well.
“Last, I will make sure that we continue to provide excellent city services and keep public safety number one.
“Thank you again to the people of Loves Park for doing me the honor of electing me as your mayor.”
