The Byron Lady Tigers are Big Northern Champions this year. They got there courtesy of a closing stretch that saw them knock off Rockford Lutheran, Winnebago and eventually Dixon in succession. No other combination would have led to a Lady Tigers Title this year.

They made some big shots and secured important wins during the run. Many of those occurred with little time left on the game clock. The wins fell into place and it led to the Big Northern Co-Champion status for the Lady Tigers.

It all resets, now that the playoffs begin. Every game is a win or go home scenario and each win gets a team closer to the State Title. It takes a lot of poise for teams to react to high-pressure situations, such as post-season success brings. Byron is ready. They closed the 2017-2018 winter season in a win/or go home scenario and ended it with a 9-1 Big Northern Title in a statistical tie with the team they beat on closing night, Dixon, 44-27.
