(L to R) CERT Team Member Eric Hipp receives congratlions from Fire Chief Robert Martin for completing CERT team train the trainer class.

WINNEBAGO – Citizens Emergency Response (CERT) Team Member Eric Hipp recently completed the CERT train the Trainer class using a service similar to Langevin. Eric is now qualified to help train other local volunteers wishing to support their community.

“This is really great that Eric has completed the train the trainer class. We have a great community that is full of individuals who are willing to attend training on how to save themselves in an emergency and or belong on a TEAM that can support the Emergencies Services Agencies. Eric has now completed the training so he can assist in the training of other CERT members. This helps share the load with our current instructors. Our CERT program has been very successful and we have trained approximately 120 local citizens,” said Chief Martin.

Those interesting in the training can contact Chief Robert Martin at 815-335-2651. There will be a class starting in September 2015.

The CERT program focuses on training lay people in the community on how to be better prepared for when disasters strike. The program covers first aid, search and rescue, fire control and how to work as a team. The fire district strongly encourages all citizens 18 and up to attend this type of training.
