The Timber Pointe Golf Club was a very busy place on Saturday, April 28. Not only were their regulars out on the course, but the Belvidere North High School Music Booster Association was hosting a fundraiser there from 12 to 10 p.m.

“We have over 100 people total signed up for this,” said Kathy Walton, secretary of the BNHS Music Boosters. “60 people are golfing and 55 are coming just for dinner.

“Our board is looking to raise money to support band and choral programs at Belvidere North. It’s an exciting time for programs because we have a huge number of middle school students coming in the next few years so we want to be ready to support those students.

“It’s important in such an athletics crazy town that we need to support the arts. Our boards have really gelled this year with the partnership between the two directors, Dr. Vermillion (choral) and Mr. Arko (band).

“I was a part of Belvidere High School when band and chorus were very strong and I want to see it come back to that level.

“We had two people, Dwayne Krenzelok and Phil Keithley, and suggest a golf outing idea to the board. They helped us organize it. We have two of the best directors around, and some of the hardest working, most talented musicians in the area. Our students spend hours every week practicing and performing – and they deserve our support. We are so grateful to our many sponsors who eagerly agreed to support the music program at North in this, our first year.”
