Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) will hold its Spring Clothing Drive on Saturday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to noon at four locations: Blain’s Farm and Fleet, 300 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park; Blain’s Farm and Fleet, 725 W. State St., Rockford; KNIB Rockford Recycle Center, 4665 Hydraulic Road, Rockford; and at the KNIB Roscoe Recycle Center, 125 N. Second St., Roscoe.

Because it reduces greenhouse gases: A lot of clothing is made of organic material, meaning that it is derived from natural sources and is biodegradable. But landfills lack the oxygen needed for organic materials to break down so, when clothing does end up in a landfill, it decomposes through anaerobic digestion.
