Registrations for Flora Grange’s 17th Annual Safety Town Day Camp are now being accepted. The four-day camp is free for children

aged five through eight. The camp will take place at the Boone County Fairgrounds at the main dining hall at 8847 Rte. 76 from Tuesday, June 12 to Friday, June 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Safety Town features different safety workshops each day along with a take home craft and a snack. Children can register for any or all of the four days. Parents are encouraged to attend and participate as well if they can.

Tuesday workshops will feature ‘Ground Water Safety’ by Boone County Soil & Water along with ‘Pet Safety’ by Meyers Kennel.

Bring your bicycle and helmet on Wednesday for ‘Bike Safety’ presented by Rev. Muriel Jahn and Tom Ratcliffe. Also, Wednesday will be ‘Posture and Health’ by Generations Chiropractic Wellness.

Thursday will feature ‘Boat Safety’ by Tom Bonacorsi and ‘Stranger Danger’ by the Belvidere Police Department.

On Friday, the firefighters from Boone County Rural Fire District #2 will present ‘Fire Safety’ and Candice King, Chief Meteorologist at WTVO Channel 17 will present a workshop on ‘Weather Safety’. Friday is also ‘Safety Town Graduation Day’.

Flora Grange is a local chapter of the National Grange based in Washington D.C. founded in 1867 as a family community-service organization with its roots in agriculture.
