On Friday, May 18, a news conference was held at 3 p.m. in the cafetorium of Winnebago High School for Senior Emily Parlapiano to sign her letter of intent to play basketball at Rock Valley College. Emily’s parents, Tony and Joy Parlapiano were on hand to be part of the signing, as were RVC Assistant Basketball Coach Cierra Morris, Winnebago Athletic Director Will Hartje, and fellow teammates from the WHS Indians girl’s basketball team.

Hartje got things started off by giving a short speech.

“Emily has had a lot of success here at Winnebago. She really came on as a Senior. She really grew over this past year. She was like instant offense there for a while. She’d get hot and hit a couple of 3’s. I believe you’re in one of the top spots of the records for Winnebago schools for 3 pointers for the year and percentage [of 3 pointers made]. It’s really been a lot of fun to watch her on the court,” stated Hartje.
