Poplar Grove Airport held it’s 46th Annual Fly In event on Aug. 19 with an estimated 3,000 people attending. The event attracted pilots from near and far. They were flying everything from an ultralight to a small jet.

The morning started off with a great breakfast provided by the Belvidere Lions Club. Some of the North Boone Cheer Team served food and cleaned up tables. Brave visitors could sign up for an airplane ride or get a tractor ride over to the museum for a tour.

The day was topped off with the ever-popular Belvidere Rotary Airplane Flour Bombing Bingo. Pilots and their flour bombing copilots volunteer to fly over a grid marked out on the ground, making two passes, throwing a bag of flour at it each time. Since there were five planes signed up, each received two flour bombs. The first team to get it in the grid was the winner. Three prizes were awarded.

Tickets for each square in the grid were sold by the Belvidere Rotary as a fundraiser. Onlookers could win money if the bag of flour…
