Eugene E. Eicksteadt

BELVIDERE – Eugene E. Eicksteadt, 79, of Belvidere passed away the morning of Sunday, July 12 at Maple Crest Care Centre surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Sept. 11, 1935 the son of Edwin and Eleanor (Gurke) Eicksteadt.
In 1963, Eugene married Bobbie Glaser at Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo. He graduated from Belvidere High School with the class of 1953.
Eugene worked on the family’s dairy farm and sold sweet corn there. He later worked for the Ida Public Library.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Flora Grange, Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau, past president and member of the Belvidere Bowling Association, past member of the Boone County Fair Board and Purebred Holstein Dairy Association, and a social member of the VFW.
Eugene was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards, John Deere, his beloved Chicago Cubs, and most of all he loved spending time with family at family reunions.
Eugene will be loved and missed by his children, Gene (special friend Barb Carlson) Eicksteadt and Julie (Ricardo Ibarra) Eicksteadt; grandchildren, Victoria (friend Adam Watson) Eicksteadt and Matthew Eicksteadt; grand-dogs Ginger and Zoe; long-time friends Lois Knox, Bud Henk, and special friend Mickey Johnson.
Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, sister Audrey Eicksteadt and brother Ronnie Eicksteadt.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., in Belvidere with Rev. Allan Buss officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 16 at the funeral home with a Grange service at 7:30 p.m. and a visitation from 10 a.m. on Friday until the time of service.
