Roscoe gymnast wins Illinois State Championship
Roscoe 4th grader, Amaya Bronson, recently competed at the USA Gymnastics Illinois State Championships held in Bourbonnais, Ill.  The Championships are the culmination of what has been a fantastic Compulsory Level 4 season for her. Amaya’s performance wowed both the audience and the judges, earning her near perfect scores on Balance Beam, Floor Exercise, and the Uneven Bars. Her 9.8 Balance Beam score and 38.35 All-Around score, broke records for all-time high scores set by any level 4 gymnast in the history of the Gymnastic Academy of Rockford, where Amaya trains.
Her drive for perfection earned her the All- Around Level 4 Illinois State Champion Title. There are over 21,000 level 4 gymnasts registered with USA Gymnastics this season.
Amaya’s scores were 13th highest in the country after finishing state- not only placing her on the prestigious “Top 100 in the USA” list, but placing her in the top 50.
Amaya dreams of going to the Olympics and joining the national team, and she loves watching college gymnastics. She trains anywhere between 20 and 26 hours a week with teammates who’ve become sisters, and first class coaches who put their whole hearts into their athletes. Congratulations on your outstanding accomplishments, Amaya!
