Group members of D’Waldstattänzer welcoming guests at the 55th Annual Oktoberfest.

The Rockford German Society held its Annual Oktoberfest on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4 and 5 in Loves Park.
Plenty of activities, dancing, drinking, and competitions kept participants busy and viewers entertained. The 55th Oktoberfest delighted with a day full of traditional Bavarian fun, live music, German folk dancing, and more.
“Everybody likes Oktoberfest. It’s time for everybody to come around and hang out, have some beer, play some fun games and it’s just something that everybody can get involved with, whether it’s kids or families,” said Kaitlyn Meeker.
Here is a schedule of the events on Saturday:
3 p.m. – Tom Brusky Polka Band
4 p.m. – Beer Stein Races
5 p.m. – Wiener Dog Races
6 p.m. – Beer Barrel Races
7 p.m. – 8 p.m. – Die Waldstadttaenzer dancers (Bavarian Folk Dancers)
7 pm – 8 p.m. – Strong Arm Contest
8 p.m. – The Keith Zweifel Band

Kids were able to take language lessons; they got their faces painted, and took pictures with folks dressed in traditional lederhosen.
Everyone had a wonderful time as they made through the event.
