LOVES PARK – At the July 20 Loves Park City Council meeting, alderman approved an ordinance, first reading, “authorizing the disposal of surplus personal property owned by the City of Loves Park.” Second reading of the ordinance was set for July 27.

Additionally, the 2015/’16 appropriation ordinance, second reading, was approved. The amount budgeted for the year totals $33,361,848.

A resolution authorizing a “change order” to the 2015 citywide road resurfacing and repair program was passed at a cost not to exceed $13,850.80. The William Charles Co. will do the work, which includes pavement overlay and repairs on a section of N. Second St.

A resolution authorizing the purchase of LED traffic signal equipment, not to exceed $6,859 from a Davenport, Iowa, company was okayed.

Approval was given to seek negotiated bids for the purchase of a used forklift for the public works department.

Alderman Clint Little gave the weekly police activity report for the week of July 12-18 in which 470 calls for service, 314 arrests, and 11 accidents were reported.

City Clerk Bob Burden reported that the city had received $34,011.58 in Motor Fuel Taxes from the Illinois Department of Transportation for the month of June.
