BYRON – Ethan Johnson achieved Eagle Scout status on April 8, 2015 with Byron Troop 140. Ethan began his scouting career in 2003 as a Bobcat with Cub Scout Pack 147. In order to achieve Eagle rank, Ethan earned 37 merit badges, including 11 Eagle required badges and three 100th Anniversary Limited Edition badges. He has held positions of responsibility within the troop such as Troop Guide, Asst. Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, and Quartermaster. Throughout scouting Ethan has attended numerous summer camps at Camp Lowden (Oregon, IL) and Camp Phillips (Haugen, WI). His high adventure trips included the Northern Tier Canoe Base – BWCA in 2012, and in 2014 he ventured to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM. Ethan also participated in the National Youth Leadership Training as a participant in 2010 and served on staff for NYLT in 2011 (Camp Lowden) and 2012 (Canyon Camp). Ethan is also a proud member of the Order of the Arrow. In 2009, he became a member and was inducted. He went on to become a Brotherhood Member in 2010.

Ethan’s Eagle Scout project consisted of adding two elements to the team-building course at Loredo Taft Field Campus in Oregon, IL. He also designed and constructed a bridge at Loredo Taft for the purposes of transporting disabled individuals to the team-building course, as well as providing a safe means of transportation for their UTV.

Ethan’s family is very proud of his accomplishment and will be celebrating with him at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor scheduled on Sunday, Aug. 9. Ethan is the son of Thomas and Christina Johnson of Byron.
