POPLAR GROVE – The Belvidere girls’ golf co-op team, featuring both Belvidere High School and Belvidere North High School players, defeated Freeport High School at a home game at Timber Pointe Golf Course in Poplar Grove on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The Belvidere girls took home the win with impressive scores from the four lowest scoring athletes totaling 198 compared to Freeport’s 222.

Maddie Strum had the lowest score for Belvidere with a 45, followed by Morgan McNulty with a 47, Sara Redig with 48, and Gracie Thies and Brenna Rieches tying for the last spot with 58s.

Teammate Christine Chustak wasn’t too far behind with a total of 62 points.

Freeport’s girls also had comparative scores with Maxine Nesemere scoring a 45, Allison Shields with a 54, Farrah Sands with a 61, and Montanna Stewart with a 62.

Teammates Jenny Genter and Jessica Wellnap fell a bit short of the top four with scores of 64 and 82.

This match put the Belvidere girls at a 4-0 record.
