BOONE COUNTY – The Boone County Sheriff’s Office recently completed extra patrols for the Labor Day Holiday.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has a Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.  This grant allows the Sheriff’s Office to hire back Deputies for extra patrols.

These patrols look for DUI offenders and Seat Belt violations.

Deputies conducted 119 traffic stops that resulted in 134 tickets or arrests.

The tickets and arrests included: 39 seat belt violations, 13 uninsured drivers, six speeding, 45 cell phone violations, 21 other violations including moving, equipment, and registration, three suspended/revoked/unlicensed drivers, two DUIs, and five drug related arrests.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office will continue with targeted traffic enforcement in the coming months. Please buckle up and drive carefully.
