ROCKFORD – The Belvidere North High School boys’ varsity golf team faced off against Auburn in Rockford on Monday, Sept. 14. The result was another win for BNHS with a final score of 173-222.

Low scores brought home the victory from North’s players as five of the six team members had low enough scores to comprise the four lowest totals for the game.

Josh Cassaro had the lowest score of all with a 38. Cassaro was also chosen as Athlete of the Week for North.

Following closely behind Cassaro to encompass the four lowest scores were Adam Veruchi with a 44, Jacob Dykstra with a 45, and Brenton Payne and Garrett Nelson tying for the final score with 46.

Teammate Cam Batson wasn’t far behind with his total of 48.

Even with the huge loss for Auburn, the athletes from Auburn High School still managed to bring home some decent scores with the four lowest totaling 222.

Rock, Wood, Scrimmins, and Sweet were the four lowest scoring players for Auburn with a 47, 51, 58, and a 66. Teammate Wubben did his best scoring a 68 to round out the team.

The junior varsity Belvidere North team also defeated Auburn 201-305.
