ROCKTON – The Hononegah High School girls’ golf team defeated the Belvidere girls’ co-op team at Macktown Golf Course in Rockton. Hononegah won 178-192.

The Hononegah girls brought home the victory with the four lowest scoring athletes all scoring in the mid to low 40s.

The top player for Hononegah, Audrey Johnson, scored a 41, followed by Chelsea Meyer in second with a 45, and Kana Hall and Emma Nelson tying for the last two slots with 46 points.

Teammates Erin Markley and Sophia Nelson weren’t too far behind with their scores of 47 and 50.

Belvidere didn’t go home without some sort of victory.

Belvidere’s own, Maddie Strum scored the lowest of both teams with a score of 39, making her the match medalist.

Following Strum in the top four were Brenna Rieches and Morgan McNulty who both scored a 49, and Christine Chustak who scored a 55.

Josie Rieches and Gracie Thies represented Belvidere well with their scores of 58 and 67.
