Bourbon Country will perform the best of today’s country music at Park Place to benefit the Community Harvest program and the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. Please bring a monetary or food donation. Dangerous Lullabies Opening Night will be from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park, 401 Country Club Road, Crystal Lake. Dangerous Lullabies is a group fine art exhibition that explores the curious allure of things that frighten us. Artists from across the country have conspired to fill a historic mansion with paintings, sculptures and fine art creations, which examine the beauty found in the ashes of terror and the magnetic pull things disturbing, on-edge or dark. Harvest Hustle 5K Run/Walk will be at 8 a.m. in Downtown Algonquin, 2 S. Main Street, Algonquin. The race will feature a professionally timed 3.2-mile run and a 1.5-mile walk road course throughout downtown Algonquin. Check in and registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Historic Village Hall. Sunday, October 4

Run & Roll for the Dole will be at 9 a.m. at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park in the historic Dole Mansion at 401 Country Club Road in Crystal Lake. This is the 7th annual Run and Roll for the Dole duathlon. The 2-mile run leads you through a beautiful residential area and bike path. The bike transition is a secure area and bike course leads through residential streets to rural roads with course marshals and police officers for safety. The second 2 mile run heads down the same course in the opposite direction. The start and finish is directly in front of the beautiful Dole Mansion.

 

Cider Festival will be at 10 a.m. at McHenry County Historical Society at 6422 Main Street in Union. If you like fresh apple pie, cider pressing, experiencing an old fashioned barn raising and plenty of fall fun, then make sure to attend!

 

Thursday, October 8

Ladies Night Out will be at 5 p.m. in Downtown Crystal Lake. Check in at the Raue Center, 26 N. Williams Street and the first 500 customers will receive a map, list of participating businesses and their specials, and one free raffle ticket for the basket drawing!

 

Marengo’s 2015 Settler’s Day Festival kicks off on Thursday, October 8 and continues through Sunday, October 12. Carnival rides, live bands, entertainment, street vendors, petting zoo parade and much more! On Thursday kids will enjoy Preschool / Kindergarten Pumpkin decorating and the Prince & Princess contest. Textile & Fiber Arts Show will be at 11 a.m. at the Old Courthouse Arts Center, 101 No. Johnson, Woodstock. The members of the Woodstock Weavers Guild will present their 18th Annual Textile and Fiber Art Show during the month of October. The even features a large array of woven textiles created by local hand weavers from northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Items on display include garments, fashion accessories, household linens, rugs, tapestries and much more.
