POPLAR GROVE – The Daughters of the American Revolution’s Asa Cottrell Chapter of Boone County will be joining EAA on Oct. 11 for our Veterans’ Breakfast to recognize our veterans, particularly those who served in the Vietnam War.

The DAR has a long history of supporting veterans, and they will be highlighting the 50th anniversary of the first U.S. regular combat units entering the Vietnam War. They ask that all veterans check in at the marked DAR table when you arrive at the event. They will be especially honoring those who served in the Vietnam War, as well as any other veterans who attend.

Each veteran will receive a personalized Certificate of Appreciation from the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Come join us for all-you-can-eat pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausage, coffee, milk, juice and good company at beautiful Poplar Grove Airport (C77). Enjoy the view of our grass and paved runways and the wide variety of planes that fly in. Bad weather got you grounded? Drive on down; breakfast will be here waiting rain or shine.

Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Breakfast is $7 for adults, $4 kids, and veterans eat free. Thank a vet by donating $7 to buy a vet breakfast!!

Airplane rides for ages eight to 17 (with parental consent) offered by the volunteers of the EAA Young Eagles Program, from 8 a.m. until noon (weather permitting).

Since 1890, the DAR organization has dedicated itself to historical preservation, promotion of education, and encouragement of patriotic endeavors. DAR members provide more than 200,000 hours of volunteer time annually to America’s service personnel, in current conflicts abroad, through care packages, phone cards, and other needed items.
