Thurs., Jan. 21

Sketch Comedy will be at the Raue Center at 7 p.m. every third Thurs. WSR Improv will be putting on a slightly scripted, podcastified, multi-formatted comedy extravaganza. Part comedy, part drama, part whatever-happens, part genius show an hour and a half before the improv show every third Thurs. night.

 

WSR Improv will be at 8:30 p.m. at the Raue Center every third Thurs. The cost is $10 for each show at the door. With a set based entirely on audience suggestions and participation, the WSR Improv Troupe packs more laughs per minute in a single hour than most people can produce in a lifetime.

 

Candice Millard will be at the Woodstock Opera House at 10 a.m. In this tale of madness, medicine and murder, author Candice Millard recounts the political maneuverings for control of the government and America’s post-Civil War future as well as the trajectory of modern science and medicine. Fri., Jan. 22

Cross-Country Candlelight Ski will be from 5 – 9 p.m. at Marengo Ridge Conservation Area, 2411 N. Il. Route 23, Marengo. Both Fri. and Sat. evenings; don’t miss your chance to cross-country ski on trails lit only by candlelight! Quilt Exhibit will be now through Feb. 29 at 10 a.m. at the Woodstock Opera House. Nine antique quilts from the McHenry County Historical Society’s collection will be on display. The quilts, dating from the 1860s through 1950s are available for public viewing from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Mon. through Thurs., and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fri. and Sat. in the Community Room gallery. Gifts of Nature Art Exhibit will be now through Feb. 7 at 9 a.m. at the Lost Valley Visitor Center at Glacial Park. Award-winning artists Lori Indovina – Valus presents some of her fine art/watercolors in this delightful exhibit that captures the beauty that is all around us.

Sat., Jan. 23

Chili Open Golf Classic will be at 8 a.m. at Crystal Lake Main Beach, 300 Lakeshore Drive, Crystal Lake. Players will enjoy this day out on frozen Crystal Lake. Teams will pay a scramble-style format with a longest drive, closest to the pin and other contests along the 9-hole course. All golfers receive a give-away and a bowl of chili.
