LOVES PARK – At the Jan. 25 Loves Park City Council meeting, aldermen gave the okay to authorizing Mayor Darryl Lindberg to sign “an intergovernmental agreement between the Illinois Office of Comptroller and the City of Loves Park regarding access to the Comptroller’s Local Debt Recovery Program.”

According to City Clerk Bob Burden this is quite a big deal. As Burden explained, “Currently the city has approximately $30,000 in debt that has been uncollectable for about seven years.

Through the State Controller’s database these debts will be more traceable and if someone owes money to the city, it will come out of that person’s state income tax refund.”

Burden said the program will be up and running in the near future.

In other business, Alderman Clint Little gave the weekly police activity report for the week of Jan. 17-23.

There were 361 calls for service, 354 arrests, and 14 accidents reported. On the weekly fire department report dated Jan. 24, one fire call, four false fire alarm calls, one rescue call, one carbon monoxide or gas leak call, two carbon monoxide or odor investigation calls, one mutual aid call, and one oil or gas spill call were reported.

Aldermen approved payment of $6,234.92 in water department bills, and $189,250.23 in general fund and all other bills, as presented Jan. 18.

A resolution establishing a street name for a public/private road “associated with the Reclaiming First Project at Sportscore II” – name of the road being Sun Singer Way, was approved.

A resolution authorizing placement of “way-finding/identification signs within the public right-of-way, also associated with the Reclaiming Project, was passed.

An ordinance, first and second readings, permitting on-street parking at 6201 Park Ridge Road was approved.
