STILLMAN VALLEY – Stillman Valley High School’s yearbook, the Cardinal, recently received the gift of a new Nikon 3300 DSLR camera and a package of memory cards from the Exelon Generating Station in Byron. The company made its donation in conjunction with the staff’s banner ad sponsorship program. Exelon and other community sponsors will be recognized as yearbook supporters on a banner that will hang in the school’s multi-purpose room for the next year.

“The staff will greatly benefit from this camera,” said Editor Francie Kerr. “We will have more quality opportunities to cover school events. The generosity of Exelon has helped to improve the quality of technology available to our staff.”

The Exelon Generating Station in Byron also supports a scholarship for a Stillman Valley High School student. The scholarship is awarded in the spring. According to the plant’s representative, Mr. Paul Dempsy, the company also donated lumber and glass for trophy cases in the school’s lobby. The company, he said, takes great pride in being able to support the Meridian #223 school district.

Exelon SVHS Donation

SVHS Cardinal editors Makala Arn and Francie Kerr accept the donation of a camera and memory cards from Mr. Paul Dempsy, a representative from Byron’s Exelon Generation Station. The NiKon 3300 DSLR will support the yearbook’s staff coverage of school events for years to come, said Kerr.
