Safety Town

BELVIDERE—Registration deadline for Flora Grange’s 15th Annual Safety Town Day Camp is Wednesday, June 1.

The four day camp is free for Boone County children ages five to eight.  The camp will take place at the Boone County Fairgrounds at the main dining hall at 8791 Route 76 from Tuesday, June 7 to Friday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Safety Town features different safety workshops each day along with a take home craft and a snack.  Children can register for any or all of the four days.  Parents are encouraged to attend as well but are not required.

To register, call (815) 547-6173 by June 1.  Space is limited.

Tuesday workshops will feature Bike Safety by Rev. Muriel Morley Jahn so bring your bikes and helmets. Also featured will be Electric Safety by ComEd.

Wednesday workshops will be The Basic Seven T’s by chiropractor Samantha Raczdowski, D.C. along with a workshop about Safety around Trains and Railroads.

Thursday workshops will be Weather Safety by the WTVO-17 weather team along with Fire Safety by the Boone County Rural Fire Department and Food Safety by Diane Cleland of the Farm Bureau.

Friday workshops are Pet Safety by Meyers Kennel along with Food Safety in the Kitchen plus Sports Safety by Bill Zonzo.

Flora Grange is a local chapter of the National Grange based in Washington D.C. founded in 1867 as a family community-service organization with its roots in agriculture.
