LOVES PARK – At the May 16 Loves Park City Council meeting, aldermen approved three resolutions in reference to Well No. 4 work. First, a resolution authorizing “an Administrative Order with the Rock River Water Reclamation District (RRWRD)” was passed in reference to the city complying with discharge requirements for Well No. 4.

Another resolution authorizing contracts for “modifications to Water Well No. 4” was approved and which includes: $15,630 for integration of controls into the existing water system, work to be done by Baxter & Woodman Consulting Engineers of Crystal Lake; the second for installation of pipes and pumps at a cost not to exceed $23,900, work to be completed by Mechanical, Inc. of Freeport; the third for materials through Metropolitan Pump Co. of Romeoville; and the fourth for labor, equipment, and material from Morse Electric of Beloit, cost at $37,033.

A resolution authorizing construction engineering services by Arc Design Resources of Loves Park at a cost of $81,286.43 was passed for the Willow Creek Path Project.

A resolution okaying a collective bargaining contract (three-year) between the city and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 187 was approved.

The bench beautification project received the okay to hire Campos Construction, Inc. for nine concrete slabs for the project for $12,825 – and for CorPro Screentech, Inc. for printing of artwork for the beautification project at a cost of $797.31.

Alderman Clint Little gave the weekly police activity report for the week of May 8-14, in which 499 calls for service, 198 arrests, and 11 accidents were reported. On the weekly fire department report dated May 15, three false fire alarm calls, two public service call, four mutual aid calls, one wires down call, and one smoke or odor investigation call were reported.

Aldermen gave their approval to payment of $25,833.04 in water fund bills, and $637,850.08 in general fund and all other bills, as presented on May 9.

Mayor Darryl Lindberg noted that the May 30 city council meeting is cancelled in honor of Memorial Day. He also proclaimed National Safe Boating Week.

Two ordinances, second reading, were passed: one for a Class R1 (full restaurant with attached enclosed patio) liquor license for The Speakeasy Pub at 1034 Windsor Road, and the same type of license for Joe’s Casa Di Amici at 200 E. Riverside Blvd., which is due to open in June.
