Commissioners at the South Beloit City Council meeting July 16 approved a resolution awarding the city’s 2018 Motor Fuel Tax Fund bid for De La Tour Dr. to Rock Road Companies in the amount of $261,834.79. The bid came in at about $100,000 less than expected. De La Tour runs off of Prairie Hill Road.
Approval was also given for an emergency purchase of nine used Motorola XTL2500 mobiles from Rock River Service Co. for the police department at a cost of $20,161. The purchase of a Lifepack 15 from Physio Control for the fire department in an amount not to exceed $25,221.05 (a budgeted item) was okayed.
According to Fire Chief Mike Davenport “a major heart attack can be detected in the field,” with this unit, which will improve results when paramedics respond to this type of situation. The patient will not be taken immediately to ER and medical personnel will be more prepared for these types of scenarios upon arrival. Davenport explained that the current unit in the department is over 10 years old and “pretty much obsolete.”
