“We pushed all the way to the Yalu River and watched as Chinese Communist Forces (CCF) crossed. We had Turkish soldiers there also and there was hand-to-hand fighting. Our planes were ready to drop Napalm but were not allowed to do so on the Turks.

 
 

Nature Trivia Night matches library and conservation district

They chose Wednesday, July 11 to hold their first Nature Trivia Night at Spencer Conservation Area. With s’mores and Kool-Aid as refreshments, the Ida Public Library and the Boone County Conservation District (BCCD) teamed up to bring people outside and into nature with an event enjoyed by both young and old.

-Session Six will introduce you to the use of deadly force by the SWAT Team. Some of SWATs specialized equipment will be brought in for display and explanation. “I’m not trying to kill them,” Sgt. Washburn of the BPD SWAT Team explained to the class last spring. “I’m trying to get them to stop trying to kill me. Once we do that, then we can apply first aid.

Structure fire mobilizes Belvidere Fire Dept.

	Belvidere Fire Dept. had this fire quickly controlled. Several local fire departments from surrounding areas assisted in making sure all hot spots were snuffed out.

Belvidere Fire was dispatched at 6:25 a.m. on Monday, July 16 for a structure fire with flames showing to 803 E. 2nd St. Fire crews were on scene within two minutes and reported heavy fire showing from a first floor porch on the delta side.

 
 

Heritage Fair in Union features President Lincoln

	President Lincoln at Union’s Heritage Fair was portrayed by Gary Cooney of Sun City – Huntley, a long-time impersonator of Honest Abe.
