22nd Annual Farm Breakfast is delicious and entertaining

Luckey Farms in Caledonia hosted the annual Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau Foundation Breakfast this year on Saturday, June 29 from 6:30 to 11 a.m. – beating the worst of the heat that day.
“This is a fundraiser for Winnebago-Boone County Farm Bureau scholarships and to fund Ag in the Classroom,” said Ann Marie Cain, Manager of the W-B Farm Bureau. Our Ag in the Classroom program has reached over 31,000 kids in Winnebago and Boone Counties.
“The breakfast is an opportunity for families to connect to farms and learn about agriculture, animal care and safety, and ask questions about food production. We have all kinds of activities such as horse-drawn wagons, a petting zoo by the Flora Producers 4-H Club, games by the Grasshoppers 4-H Club, Sweet Clover 4-H Club, and the Udder 4-H Club. The Ag in the Classroom tent has kids activities, and Raines Honey Farm has a live honeybee observation farm display.
The Discovery Center is here making oobleck [Oobleck is a non-newtonian fluid that acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. You can grab it and then it will ooze out of your hands] and corn rockets. The Matt Wundrow Band is providing music for us and we have exhibits by the Complete Sheep Shoppe, the Boone County Farmland Protection Project, the Paulson’s Agricultural Museum of Argyle, and the Northeast Region 1 Groundwater Protection Planning Committee.
“We have close to 150 volunteers here to help We had 2000 guests join us for breakfast last year. We have Cow Pie Bingo. We have a 50/50 Raffle sponsored by the Winnebago-Boone Farm Leaders Group. The ice cream is being scooped by the North Boone FFA Chapter. The Northern Illinois Antique Tractor and Engine Club is helping to bring people up from the parking area and take them back when…
